Welcome to the Russian Orthodox Parish of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, in Cardiff (Wales/UK) an Orthodox community formed in the Welsh capital in 2010.

Embracing the Orthodox legacy of these lands and blessed by the intercessions of the host of local Saints, our community shares the rich treasures of Orthodox Christianity with people of diverse nationality, language, age and race into the life of the Gospel that has been proclaimed in our Church for more than 2,000 years.

“The myrrh-bearing women came to Thy tomb; and beholding the seals of the sepulchre and not finding Thine immaculate Body, they came with haste, lamenting and saying: Who hath stolen our Hope?” Let us go into the world as hope-bearers, carrying the life-transforming hope that they rediscovered as they cast aside the needless perfumes they bore, as Christ the Sun of Righteousness rose again in their lives. The world desperately needs the HOPE that we must bear and joyously announce for the world to hear – the message of the Eternal Pascha and that Christ is risen! On Palm Sunday Father Mark challenges to think of our belief in who Christ is. Are we any different to those in the Palm Sunday crowd shouting “Hosanna”, projecting their needs and desires to have a Christ according to their desires, plans and personal agendas - then shouting “Crucify Him” a week later, when He did not live up to their agendas and self-projected expectations as the Christ of their own making?
